Muscle and joint injuries can be tricky to treat. For a ligament or tendon to heal, it has to rest, but not moving a certain part of your body just isn’t realistic—especially if you’re an athlete or someone who likes to stay active. At Amherstview Family Chiropractic & Massage, we use a technique called therapeutic taping to help improve:
A Great Way to Treat Sport and Musculoskeletal Injuries
Therapeutic taping involves the use of dynamic tape, a strong, highly elastic, and breathable tape with a non-irritating adhesive, to reduce pain and improve healing to injured muscles or joints. Dr. Helmstaedt will stretch the tape over the affected area while it’s in a shortened position. As you unbend your joint or stretch your muscle, the tape will absorb most of the load that your muscle or joint would, allowing you to go about your daily activities and use your full range of motion without tiring the muscle, ligament, or tendon that needs to heal. The tape is long-lasting and surprisingly comfortable to wear, so you won’t even remember it’s there.
